Electric golf trolleys can make the golfing experience far more convenient and enjoyable. They use an electric motor to propel your golf clubs around the course automatically, removing the need for manual pushing.
Motocaddy are an industry leader in the electric golf trolley space, and the S1 is one of their most popular models. The S1 is incredibly easy to use, and the distance control allows you to create a perfectly catered caddy experience.
One of the main limitations of electric trolleys like the S1 is battery life. The battery life is usually rated for a number of holes, from 18 to as many as 36. If you want to extend the battery life of your trolley, you have the option of buying an after market battery with an increased capacity.
There’s loads of great batteries on the market, so we’ve compiled this list of the best options on the Amazon.

FAQs
Lithium batteries are widely considered as the best batteries for electric golf trolleys.
Lithium batteries last longer than their lead acid equivalents. Lithium systems usually have an estimated lifespan of around 2000 charge cycles, whereas lead acid batteries may only last as long as 500 charge cycles. This means you may have to buy 4 lead acid batteries to get the same use that you would get out of a single lithium battery!
As an added bonus, lithium batteries are usually around one quarter of the weight of lead acid batteries. This makes a massive difference on the use time of your electric trolley, as the motor will have to draw more power to move a heavier battery and this will result in the battery running out more quickly.
Not to worry – all of the batteries on this list are lithium!
Our favourite replacement battery for the Motocaddy S1 is the Powerbug 12V 27+ Hole Lithium Battery. It’s guaranteed to cover at least 18 holes on any golf course, and it’s compatible with many other electric trolleys as well.
If you’re looking for something that’s a bit more affordable, the high-capacity ULTRAMAX 22A 36 Hole Lithium Battery is excellent value for money.
In short, not really.
Motocaddy lithium batteries are supplied with a battery management system (BMS) that helps to protect the battery from things like deep discharge, excessive currents and overcharge. Even though your battery is likely safe from damage caused by overcharging, it’s always best practice to stop charging your battery once it reaches max capacity to ensure that it lasts as long as possible.
Lithium golf trolley batteries usually last between 10 and 20 years if they’re looked after properly. This is far longer than lead acid batteries, which usually only last between 2 and 5 years.
